I first encountered Kiehl’s during 2015 when searching for an alternative lip balm, since the brand I was using was no longer available in South Africa. I am rather pedantic about my lip balm, so I decided to give Kiehl’s a try, having been impressed by the look of their stores. Not only was I was blown away by the knowledge of the sales assistant, but I was thoroughly impressed by the time she took, just for my mere lip balm. I have been a fan ever since.

Kiehl’s started as a old-style European apothecary (older terminology for pharmacy) in New York’s East Village in 1851. Supplying locals with pharmaceutical tonics and medicinal salves from all-natural ingredients, the brand soon became renowned for its quality products and service levels. The first Kiehl’s store was opened in South Africa in November 2012, with the brand continuing to find traction with locals demanding products that offered both value and values. South Africa was the 42nd country to launch Kiehl’s in the last 10 years.

Skincare has always been very close to my heart, mainly due to my extremely sensitive skin and the ravages of shaving said skin. I have been forced to investigate creams, lotions, potions and skincare routines since the time of the arc. I have been using products since before there were mens ranges around, such has been my journey. So when Kiehl’s arranged for me to have a full-on assessment session with one of their consultants, I decided it was time to reconsider my skincare routine.

Based on the assessment, Kiehl’s were kind enough to send me some skincare basics to try out. I have been using the products since late last year and am very excited by the notable improvement in the health of my skin and its overall glow. Shaving has also become less of the dreaded exercise it has to date been renowned for!
