The Wear Only White Challenge

Last Sunday saw Edgars join forces with the Fourways Farmers Market to celebrate the festive season as they presented the WOW – Wear Only White Market.

White has been a popular shade of choice this year at many a notable social gathering, with variants of white and black & white noted as the street style colours of choice in the closing days of NYFW. The key to success has been in determining which shade of white best compliments your style persona.

So with the challenge firmly set, I went about putting together something for the WOW Market.

I opted for a pair of pure white cotton shorts from Woolworths, perfect to keep me cool in the heat of a summers afternoon. I knew I was going to play with shades of white elsewhere in my outfit, so a proper pair of white shorts was essential.

In keeping with the market vibe, I paired the shorts with my white and blue striped espadrille’s from Mr Price. These shoes ensured the outfit was casual without losing the styled look I was going for.

To add some interest to the outfit I wore my off-white short-sleeved shirt with faded pink rose detail, which I found earlier this year at Pick ‘n Pay clothing. The shirt added a hint of colour while still keeping within the general guidelines of white only. For more on wearing short-sleeved shirts, see my previous post here.

No outfit would be complete without considering the finer details that make it work. Being the middle of a very hot summer, I was looking for a fragrance that would continue to inspire a fresh approach to a white only outfit. The Ferrari Red Power Ice Cube is aromatic and fruity with a fresh burst of citrus. Containing bergamot and grapefruit in its top notes, this fragrance perfectly compliments the market vibe that was to be my Sunday. If you are looking for a signature fragrance this summer, you would do well to consider the Ferrari, available at selected Edgars, Red Square, Foschini, TruworthsStuttafords or Dis-chem stores. The contrasting patterns on the shoes and shirt continued the playful, market theme.

The outfit worked well for me as I browsed the great selection of clothing and accessories on offer from Edgars, while at the same time enjoying one of the most beautiful outdoor markets in Joburg. What better way to pass a Sunday afternoon than sitting on the haybale picnic lawn shaded by beautiful Jacaranda trees, chatting to friends and enjoying the fine fare from the market.

Be sure to pop into your local Edgars store for all your Christmas shopping needs!
