THE FATHERS DAY GUIDE – BUSINESS AS (UN)USUAL
Today I wrap up my Fathers Day Guide series, aimed to re-ignite dads sense of style and offer some gifting ideas for Fathers Day on Sunday. See my first and second posts in the series for more style inspiration!
Let’s consider todays dad – he is your standard, run of the mill, conservative, corporate specimen. He wears leather lace ups and a tie and reigns over his domain from his crisp, clean-lined office.
At heart, our dad yearns to express his creativity through his sense of style. It may just be a funky pair of socks but Business As (Un)Usual dad is in full control of his style and takes every corporate-appropriate opportunity to express this style.
Bucking the trend, our dad stamps his personality on the corporate space he occupies. He trades the traditional suit for a three quarter length houndstooth coat and a pair of well cut cropped navy pants. Colourful socks are introduced to further rebel against the norm.
But it doesn’t stop there. He remains faithful to the corporate code by continuing with a pair of leather lace ups, opting for a pair of navy Rule toecap detail leather Oxford shoes from Dune London. The high shine finish combined with the perforated detailing and square toe make this an essential item in his arsenal, ensuring his differentiation in the workspace.
Attention to detail includes his outfit accessories and also extends to office bound accessories. He selects this Ostrich leather Victor document bag in nicotine from Via La Moda to ensure he arrives at meetings in style. While back at the office he dresses his desk using this Python leather desk set, also from Via La Moda.
To finish off Business As (Un)Usual dads outfit he carefully selects his timepiece to both compliment and contrast elements of his ensemble. The Shanghai from Trident Watches is designed to evoke a sense of luxury while complimenting his effortless style. The mesh strap plays on the use of texture initially invoked by the houndstooth coat and will ensure his appearance at any business function is long a topic of discussion and analysis, even after he has left the building.
